Time Out to Reboot

How many of us put everyone else in our busy lives first and ourselves last?
I would say most of us can relate to trying to keep everyone happy and leaving precious little time for ourselves. For many of us, we are pulled in multiple directions trying to balance busy, often stressful jobs with a family or other commitments. This can leave us feeling tired and sometimes resentful of those around us.
I realised when I started to get annoyed with small things that would normally not bother me or I found myself ranting about all the bad drivers on the motorway as I drove to and from work, that maybe I needed to stop, get off the merry-go-round and put myself at the top of the list for a change. It's been quite a full on year for me. I am less than 12 months into a job that is challenging and demanding, my two youngest started university (in different cities of course!) and I became an orphan when my father died and reunited with my much loved mother.
I told my husband, boss, children, friends and pets that I was getting off the roller coaster and taking some time for me. A whole selfish week with no phones, computers, TV's or other 'normal' devices that keep us plugged in 24/7. I fly off into the sunset on the 22nd June for a week of pampering and recharging the batteries. You won't hear from me during that week but I will write a blogpost when I get back and tell you all about it.
Think about your own life and where you are at. Do you need to take some time out? It may be as simple as going and enjoying a movie or a meal out or having a technology free weekend. We are all in different stages of our lives and what works for one may not necessarily work for another. Think about what you can do that fits your current reality but is just for you. Enjoy whatever that may be!
